World No.2 Nouran Gohar got the better of England’s Georgina Kennedy in straight games to be crowned the 2021 DAC Pro Squash Classic champion, winning 11-8, 11-6, 11-1 at the Detroit Athletic Club.
Gohar was seeded to win the event and had dispatched France’s Melissa Alves, Belgium’s Nele Gilis and USA’s Olivia Clyne to book her place in a 24th PSA final.
Her opponent, World No.51 Kennedy, was unseeded but embarked on a giant-killing run which saw her take out No.2 seed Joelle King and No.7 seed Sabrina Sobhy en route to her 10th PSA final overall, while it was her first appearance in a PSA World Tour final after nine previous title deciders at PSA Challenger Tour level.
Kennedy’s run finally came to an end though as a confident Gohar swept her aside in just 28 minutes to win the PSA World Tour Bronze event.
It is Gohar’s 13th PSA title, while the 24-year-old has now won three of the last four events she has competed in.
